How would your best friend describe you?

Ambitious, determined, thoughtful, positive and intelligent.

What are you looking for in a partner?

Attraction is key, but looks are only a part of it. A woman’s confidence, her personality and ability to engage in interesting conversations are what make a woman very attractive. Intelligence is important — not in terms of their education level, but their ability to carry on an interesting conversation.

Do you have a type?

I don’t think you really can have a type until you meet ‘your type.’ It’s like your type becomes customized as you go along. I just trust my gut and if I have that feeling that I want to be around them all the time then I know they are my ‘type.’

What are your thoughts on sex on the first date?

I’ve never dated a girl who started off as a one-night stand. I think a lot of guys are like this whether they admit it or not. It’s easy to lose interest right away after because you haven’t built any connection other than sex. If you take time to do fun things together, then you get to really know the person first, and it’s not just about sex.

How important is timing? Can you meet the perfect person at the wrong time?

There is never a right time. If you meet the right one you are willing to do what it takes to make it work.

Does it matter how successful a woman is?

I respect a woman’s ambition and dedication as that applies to how she lives her life overall. I don’t necessary care what her job is, as long as she likes what she’s doing. If she’s miserable in her job, she will be emitting negative energy at home constantly and it will impact the relationship.

Any advice on dating in Vancouver?

Don’t chase love and don’t ever be desperate. But if you meet a person you think has potential, pursue it with all you’ve got until you find out if it’s a fit or not. I think people think way too much in the courting phase. If you want to text, call or see the person, just do it. The games are a waste of time.

If you were to give advice to your younger self on relationships, what would it be?

If you don’t like what you’re seeing in a relationship, stop going back to the same thing.

Any last words of wisdom?

Your gut feeling is your best tool. Don’t rush. There is plenty of time to find someone you really like and you can fall in love many times.
