“Part of the problem is that we use the term decision so loosely that is has come to describe our wishes, not our commitments. Instead of making decisions we state our preferences.
A true decision means you are committed to achieving a results, and then cutting yourself off from any other possibility.” – Bob Proctor, Art of Living.
I read this passage over the weekend and it resonated with me. Lately, I’ve been on the cusp of making some bold decisions, but kept doubting myself and waffling back and forth. When I read this, something clicked. I asked myself, “What do I really want, and what am I willing to sacrifice to manifest my dreams into reality?”
We say we want something, yet often we’re unwilling to make the sacrifices needed to get it. You want epic love? Then are you willing to stop repeating patterns of your past that clearly aren’t getting you the results you desire? Are you willing to endure the discomfort of creating new, healthier patterns and ways of relating – even if this means being alone, rewiring your idea of chemistry and taking the risk of commitment? You want to be your own boss and have the freedom to work from anywhere you want? Then are you willing to devote your weekends to building your side hustle so that you can one day make that jump? You want to be more in control of your emotions? Are you willing to exchange your excuses that you are too busy and devote time to a daily practice?
Are you willing to do the work?
And here’s the thing. Maybe you actually don’t want that something bad enough, or it’s not your time. That’s okay. Just be honest with yourself about it. Because actualizing a dream requires intention, a decision, a commitment, and the discipline to follow through – everything else is just lip service.
Here’s to our commitment to constantly evolve, to have the courage to edit our lives when it’s veering off course of the direction that we know so deeply in our hearts we need to follow. Here’s to not settling for good enough, to sacrificing the short term highs for the faith that great is possible for those who persevere.
Thanks just the inspiration and straight talk I needed to motivate my day! ❤
